Visit 10 of the 22 amazing monasteries/churches on this pilgrimage route, some in the middle of nowhere, some hidden mere kilometers from bustling suburbia (find out which ones were visited by Mark Twain, Mother Theresa, and Gandhi!).
The Camino Trail is a stunning 3-night, 4-day adventure bike ride where we will visit 10 of these 22 amazing monasteries/churches “in the middle of nowhere”, as the central core focus of the tour, riding some of the very best “off the beaten track roads” the Southern Berg can offer in getting to see these marvels.
Some of the landscapes are ancient and sacred, and you might just spot the shy Purple Crested Loerie (Gwalagwala) bird, with its stunning plumage, which in Swaziland, only members of the royal family can wear. This area is also home to the rare Blue Swallow, Cape Parrot and Black-Winged Plover.
All this, as we cover the back roads of the rural areas of the Lotheni, Impendle, Pholela, uMzimkhulu and Ixopo valleys.
Very few people will ever get to experience these hidden Trappist Monasteries.

The Adventure Tour Price Includes a lot of value:
- This is a self-ride, guided adventure. Your own personal motorcycle wilderness guide sharing his ‘nuggets’ of information and anecdotes of the wild.
- Specialist guide - Certified South African Tourist Guide.
- Entry fees into the various places of interest.
- Excellent accommodation.
- All meals included, rusks and coffee/tea daily.

- Warm long sleeve Tour T-shirt.
- Spare tyres, repair kits and all equipment to do repairs. We suggest you are aufait when it comes to punctures and small repairs.

WHAT'S EXCLUDED
There are a few items that you need to bring and pay for and are for your account:
- Lunch on the last day
- All Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks
- Any items of a personal nature
- Flights and Visas
- Fuel
- Travel and medical insurance

- Bike insurance excess deposit taken by the hire company R 35,000 (credit card required)
- Helmet and protective gear (please bring your own gear)

ABOUT YOUR HOST
John "Big Dog" Parkin is the Big Dog of Big Dog's Adventure Tours and Safaris.
He is a decorated airborne officer, micro-light pilot, adventurer, advanced scuba diver, canoeist, marathon runner x 45, Iron Man, RSA record holder in Pentathlon, adventure guide, safari guide, historian and storyteller.
John makes every tour magical and unforgettable with his passion for the country and knowledge of all the stories and legends that give you a unique experience for all the sights and places you visit with him.

The full trip itinerary is available once you have booked your spot on the tour. All the places of interest, accommodation, food and special places of interest that we cover in the tour are detailed in the itinerary.
MOTORCYCLE RENTAL OPTIONS
The BMW GS Motorcycles that we prefer to include as the standard rental is the BMW F750GS.
We do also offer other rental options for the International Riders who join us on the Adventure Tours and these are listed below:

These costs are additional to the Tour Cost if you would like to rent any of these models. The costs are calculated based on the special negotiated rates we have secured from our motorcycle rental partners for our international guests.
